At Halliford School, we understand the importance of providing state-of-the-art facilities that support our students’ learning experiences. Our commitment to excellence extends beyond the classroom, as we continuously invest in capital projects designed to improve our school site and create an environment where our students can thrive. You can read about our most recent capital projects below.
After a great deal of planning and time spent with our architects and builders, we have started the preparation stage for our latest capital project at the School. This project has seen us develop a brand new dining room and theatre lobby alongside refurbishment work to both the John Crook Theatre and the existing dining room and kitchens. Ask anyone about Halliford School and our food is always close to the top of their list of recommendations! When we erected the marquee to enable us to continue to provide hot food during the pandemic, we decided to keep hold of it afterwards as we saw an opportunity to offer a more relaxed and convivial approach to lunchtimes at the school for our students. We were therefore delighted when our Governing Body gave the go-ahead for the marquee to be replaced with a new permanent dining hall, and this also offered us the opportunity to create a new multi-functional area at the front of the school to provide a lobby and creative space for drama and music. Thankfully, the planners at Spelthorne Council backed our scheme, and work commenced in February 2024.
This has seen us develop a new area for Matron on the ground floor of the cottage with the creation of a treatment room, a fully equipped wet room and a smart new wellbeing suite for use by our visiting counsellor, our ELSA provider Mrs Marismari and Mr Shales our Director of Student Welfare. Last Easter, work started on providing new windows to the Theatre and the creation of some additional space in the kitchens ahead of the main building project, which commenced at the end of the summer term.
We were then delighted to start using the new dining room in November, and our students were tasked with the job of coming up with a suitable name for this amazing new space. The Forum was chosen, and we are enjoying our lunches and pre-event refreshments in this wonderful space. We look forward to hosting an Opening Ceremony shortly.
The success of our capital projects relies on the input and support of our school community, including students, parents, alumni, and staff. Together, we can build a brighter future for our students and continue to provide exceptional learning experiences for generations to come.
