Capital Projects

At Halliford School, we understand the importance of providing state-of-the-art facilities that support our students’ learning experiences. Our commitment to excellence extends beyond the classroom, as we continuously invest in capital projects designed to improve our school site and create an environment where our students can thrive. You can read about our current and most recent capital projects below.

Current Capital Projects:

  • New Dining Hall
  • New Theatre Lobby
  • Matron’s Medical Room and Wellbeing Suite
  • Refurbishment work to the Theatre
  • Refurbishment work to the existing Dining Room and Kitchens

After a great deal of planning and time spent with our architects and builders, we have started the preparation stage for our latest capital project at the School. This project will see us develop a brand new dining room and theatre lobby alongside refurbishment work to both the John Crook Theatre and the existing dining room and kitchens. Ask anyone about Halliford School and our food is always close to the top of their list of recommendations! When we erected the marquee to enable us to continue to provide hot food during the pandemic, we decided to keep hold of it afterwards as we saw an opportunity to offer a more relaxed and convivial approach to lunchtimes at the school for our students. We were therefore delighted when our Governing Body gave the go-ahead for the marquee to be replaced with a new permanent dining hall, and this also offered us the opportunity to create a new multi-functional area at the front of the school to provide a lobby and creative space for drama and music. Thankfully, the planners at Spelthorne Council backed our scheme earlier this term, and work has commenced with the first phase of preparation.

This has seen us develop a new area for Matron on the ground floor of the cottage with the creation of a treatment room, a fully equipped wet room and a smart new wellbeing suite for use by our visiting counsellor, our ELSA provider Mrs Marismari and Mr Shales our Director of Student Welfare. This Easter, work started on providing new windows to the Theatre and the creation of some additional space in the kitchens ahead of the main building project, which will commence at the end of the summer term and, all being well, will be finished in time for the end of the Christmas term.

Please check back here for updates, and we look forward to inviting you to share in this impressive new facility very soon. In the meantime, please do bear with us whilst we seek to deliver this very complex project at the heart of the school site. There will inevitably be some disruption, and we won’t quite look at our best until it’s all completed, but we can assure you it will be worth it.

Recent Capital Projects:

  • The Woodward Building which houses our Learning Resource Centre, six new classrooms and departmental offices.
  • Newly sited athletics long jump on the sports field
  • Refurbishment of the Reception and Administration Office
  • Refurbishment of the Conference Room

The success of our capital projects relies on the input and support of our school community, including students, parents, alumni, and staff. Together, we can build a brighter future for our students and continue to provide exceptional learning experiences for generations to come.
