New Modular Dining Hall & Drama Studio Arrives at Halliford

14th August 24

Excitement was in the air yesterday as the modules for our brand new modular dining hall and drama studio were craned into place. On a stunning summer day, we watched in awe as seven modules were craned over the Georgian House into position. The video below shows the incredible feat of engineering involved.

The new modular dining marks an important milestone for Halliford School and will offer an enhanced dining experience that caters to the school’s growing population and evolving needs. The state-of-the-art facility will boast a contemporary design, with large windows allowing for plenty of natural light and an open, airy layout that promotes social interaction and a sense of belonging.

Sitting alongside our existing dining space, which is undergoing a spectacular refurbishment this summer, this new build reflects our commitment to providing the best possible environment for our students and staff. This innovative space will serve as a central hub for our community, encouraging students to gather, connect, and enjoy nutritious meals together. The building will also house a brand new drama studio which will be a wonderful creative space for our students to enjoy.

The decision to invest in a modular building highlights the school’s dedication to sustainable and cost-effective construction methods. Modular buildings offer numerous benefits, including faster build times, reduced waste, and minimal on-site disruption during construction. The dining hall was designed and built off-site before being transported and assembled on-site yesterday. The next phase involves plastering the internal walls and laying the flooring before installing the external brick cladding and finishing with the landscaping.

Our dining marquee has served us well since the pandemic, but this new space will provide a more permanent solution offering ample space for students to dine comfortably and engage with their peers, fostering a sense of camaraderie and school spirit. We hope to see the grand opening of the new modular dining hall in October.
